Hosanna. An Easter Song - by Elizabeth Reynolds
You rode into Jerusalem, You were praised, You were exalted.
They offered up to You a song, with all their might they all cried:
'Hosanna, hosanna.'
Palm branches and cloaks laid down in an offering of worship.
This King rides on a donkey's colt
Meek and gentle, and they cried out:
'Hosanna, hosanna, blessed is He Who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna, hosanna!'
We cried for salvation that only You could give
You answered by giving up Your life.
The curtain tore in two, we boldly come to You
Jesus to You our hearts arise
'Hosanna, hosanna.'
You stood in front of an angry crowd, You were bruised, mocked and beaten.
Silent You endured their scorn, with all their might they all cried:
'Crucify Him, crucify Him.'
Nailed up high upon a cross, You were marred, You were broken.
Your blood poured out for those who watched.
They didn't know that they were crying out:
'Oh save us, oh save us! Jesus Christ our King, Son of God!
Oh save us, oh save us!'
We cried for salvation that only You could give
You answered by giving up Your life.
The curtain tore in two, we boldly come to You
Jesus to You our hearts arise
'Oh save us, oh save us.'
Oh Lord, You heard us cry out to You.
It was Your forgiveness that poured out from the cross, poured out from Your heart.
And three days later You walked out of the tomb leaving our sin and shame there.
Hosanna, hosanna, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna, blessed is He!
We cried for salvation that only You could give
You answered by giving up Your life.
The curtain tore in two, we boldly come to You
Jesus to You our hearts arise
‘Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna, hosanna.’
